Charles "Scott" Brown Photo Album

1965
This picture was taken in a garage because we didn't have any way of getting me into the house that particular day. It was taken at our family house in Carbondale, Colorado when I was visiting for a couple weeks. On that particular day, my dad had torn his Achilles tendon two days before and was in a long leg cast, my brother broke his ankle about a week before, and the caregiver I had along with me on this trip had strained his back the night before.
Many years before this picture was taken, my oldest half-sister was promised by her grandfather that he would meet her in Paris and buy her a peppermint striped dress and take her to dinner at a French bistro when she was 16. In 1964, the year before this picture was taken, he made good on his promise and on her 16th birthday they met in Paris, he bought her a peppermint striped dress and they went to dinner in a French bistro.
A year later, two of my half-sisters decided they would fix and serve dinner in a little French bistro they would set up in the garage. Of course, French bistros have to have candles on the tables.
That is the story behind the candles.
